“In a new report, Parliamentary Budget Officer Kevin Page says the government’s recent legislation to restrict pre-sentence jail credit will extend the average prisoner’s sentence by about 159 days. It will also add 4,000 more inmates to the federal prison system, according to the report…

More prisoners, longer stays and the resulting increase in operations and maintenance costs will add $1 billion a year to the total expenditures on correction in Canada, the report says.
In the 2009-2010 fiscal year, the budget across federal, provincial and territorial jurisdictions is $4.4 billion. By fiscal year 2015-2016, that total will rise to $9.5 billion.”

I have a solution that will lower costs AND reduce crime: Bring back caning! Unless somebody is a career criminal or violent offender who needs to be kept off the streets for 5 or more years, caning is a much better alternative to locking people up. It is far cheaper than feeding and sheltering a prisoner, and is as much or more of a deterrent than jail time. It is also much more satisfying for the criminal’s victims.

Just imagine if this guy had been caught in a bait car. I’ll bet he’d think twice before stealing again!

I laughed pretty hard when I read this. It seems 3 men convicted of Driving Under the Influence were ordered by the court to attend a consequences of DUI panel. The panel is made up of people who have suffered losses of loved ones as a result of drunk drivers.

The intention is to have the convicts listen to testimonials of the horrors of drinking and driving. However, I think the men made quite a farce of the whole thing when they showed up drunk. Their blood alcohol level was around 0.22 and the legal limit is that damn 0.08 (which we all know has never stopped us before).

Three New Yorkers convicted of alcohol-related driving offenses showed up to their court-mandated panel to hear from DWI victims drunk, police said.

“Occasionally, we’ll have someone show up drunk, but that was offensive,” Larry Waimon, whose father and grandmother were killed by drunken drivers, told the Post-Star. “They’re not ready to listen. The judges should lock them up.”

All three had a blood alcohol content of just under 0.22 percent, Glens Falls Police Sgt. John Winchell told the newspaper. In New York a person is considered legally drunk if their BAC is 0.08 percent.

I am a fan of anyone who makes a farce of anything. I like these guys because they are pretty outrageous. However, I hate criminals. These guys are hilarious and I laugh when I read stories like this, but there is no doubt that they should be locked.

Vince Shlomi, aka Vince Offer, aka Sham Wow Guy, was arrested recently while wearing a sicky fur jacket. He was arrested on a felony battery charge following a violent confrontation with a prostitute in his South Beach hotel room.

According to an arrest affidavit, Shlomi met Sasha Harris, 26, at a Miami Beach nightclub on February 7 and subsequently retired with her to his $750 room at the lavish Setai hotel. Shlomi told cops he paid Harris about $1000 in cash after she “propositioned him for straight sex.” Shlomi said that when he kissed Harris, she suddenly “bit his tongue and would not let go.” Shlomi then punched Harris several times until she released his tongue.

The affidavit notes that during the 4 AM fight Harris sustained facial fractures and lacerations all over her face. After freeing his tongue, a bleeding Shlomi ran to the Setai lobby, where security summoned cops. Harris refused to cooperate with officers, who recovered $930 from her purse.

The real question is, why was Vince paying a hooker? It seems to me that this guy should be able to sell this girl into paying him for sex. Why didn’t he make her an offer that lasted for 20 minutes… you know he can’t do it all day. He could have got some live testimonials from other girls and edited them together to make a seamless sales pitch. And if she ordered right now, he could have sweetened the deal by doubling pleasure, assuming of course she was willing to pay the separate shipping and handling.

It seems that Vince has trouble following him everywhere he goes. He is also currently involved in an ongoing feud with other TV Pitchman Billy Mays (Oxy Clean Ass Hole). Billy Mays has publicly called out Vince. Watch the video below. Am I the only person on earth who hates Billy Mays. I cannot go 5 minutes without having him on my TV. Get off TV Billy Mays. Vince spends his time punching prostitutes, while Billy Mays spends his time hocking any product he can get his hands on. Billy needs to take a few lessons from Vince.

” We should just take back all the money that we gave those executives.”

“If the government is bailing out corporations like AIG, why can’t the government simply not pay executives these bonuses that aren’t earned?”

“Obama sucks!” (just to keep these articles harmonious).

The economy has most people dusting off their old pickfork, lighting up that trusty torch, and joining the angry mob.

One of the stories that has received the most attention regards the bonuses that are being paid to executives of corporations now under majority control by the United States Government. Hearing of executives of these companies being paid bonuses during tough economic times, when their companies have performed terribly, using government money that objectively represents debt that will be paid by our children’s children, will cause anyone to get pissed off, and rightfully so. But there is a huge difference between what ought to be and what is.

These bonuses represent contactual obligations that these corporations are bound to pay their employees. The Rule of Law would be severely deteriorated if these bonuses were not paid despite their contractual validity, as counter-intuitive as that sounds. No amount of moralistic reasoning, or meritocratic logic allows this contracts to be dissolved. This would have severe implications for many contractual relationships between employers and employees, and the negatives will far outweigh the positives in the long run.

The Democrat-controlled House and Senate has advanced a plan to retroactively tax these bonuses, which amounts to stealing from these citizens.

These bonuses are gone, and the major media needs to start focusing on the lack of leadership the Democrats are showing in proactively instituting new reforms to ensure that this pattern of incompetence does not continue.

Reports are coming in that the violence in Mexico is reducing the supply of illegal drugs that is coming into Vancouver, making the gangs in the area more desperate for the limited resources available. Clearly the police in the lower mainland are completely useless, which isn’t surprising given that this province is filled with a bunch of hippies and NDP-supporters. What is an upstanding gentleman to do with so many shooting going on?

A lesson in history.

In 1788, Britain had a little crime problem of it’s own, so they decided to ship all of their degenerate criminals to a little place called Australia. Seemed to work out fairly nicely.

Wiki.

Well, Canada doesn’t have to travel far, because we have an island of our own that will do just fine.

Baffin Island: Canadas Largest Prison

Baffin Island: Canada's Largest Prison

In my opinion, we need to take all of the gang members in the lower mainland and ship them up to Baffin Island, no “work camps” or “rehabilitation facilities,” or “food” or “shelter.” Just one or two Earl’s restaurants where these miscreants can spend $400 between three people on a Tuesday at 2:30pm on Monkey’s Lunches and Jack Frosts.

It is time for the citizens of B.C., the ones with balls, to take back their damn country and stop expecting a government that has been run by fucking hippies for the last half century to get anything right in law enforcement. It worked for Britain, and they weren’t even dealing with minorities.

Canada’s World has more info.

The other day I was having a “conversation” with a server at a restaurant and she used the word “OMG” as if it was part of our vernacular. Needless to say, I have become appalled that this and other Internet terms have become common language. While the Internet has provided society with great benefits by uniting the world on a common platform, it has also brought about a socially inept generation. Driven by a pervasive laziness that exists, the Social Networking Tools and Instant Messaging applications have turned into a launching pad for the abhorrent use of clumsy abbreviations and outright gibberish. To that end, the language that was once reserved for Internet speak is now creeping its way into daily conversation.

Even in business, I am constantly receiving e-mails that are littered with both spelling mistakes and horrible punctuation. To communicate on a professional level with such errors displays a lack of respect for yourself and the person on the receiving end. Check out this e-mail I received the other day from a Director of Information Technology at a large company:

I would be quixotic to think that the people of North America could be masters of the English language, however I think at least basic standards should exist. Further, it would be narcissistic of me to assume that my own comprehension of grammar rules and word use was at an expert level (this will serve as a disclaimer for this post). But I hope that people start to wake up and see we are going down a dangerous path. Maybe we will get to a point where people can no longer communicate at a verbal level and have to draw emoticons and pictures to “talk”. Just like the cyclical nature of the economic markets, communication will come full circle and we will go back to the Neolithic age by drawing pictures on the walls of caves. At least the world will be at lot more simple.
